One Day in Big Bear

and this is why we hiked

A few weeks ago, Bob and I drove to Big Bear for a very quick trip. Even though we were only there for a short time, it was the perfect escape from living out of a suitcase- yes, we are still in a hotel- and a great Fall retreat.

What made it so great? Well, first of all, it was cold. (for LA anyway) And that meant we bundled up with extra layers, scarves and hats (my favorite part about Fall). We also grilled out, hiked 7 miles to an incredible overlook to Big Bear Lake, and hung out with friends. Oh, and there was an actual wood burning fireplace- not the crappy fake fireplaces that don’t actually give off any heat- and while we didn’t roast marshmallows, I enjoyed the crackling of the wood like nobodies business!

Like I said, it was the perfect retreat, even if it was only for a day.

Have any great Fall retreats this year? If not, where would you like to go?!

  1. “It smelled better in person”- too funny! Glad you were able to take a short break, sometimes those are the best ways to get away.
