My dogs love the beach.* Unfortunately, Los Angeles only has one dog beach or beach that allows dogs in the entire county. Located about 45 minutes south of LA proper, there is a strip in Long Beach called Rosie’s Dog Beach, named after a beloved bulldog who loved the beach. There were, no joke, probably over a hundred different types of dogs. Big dogs, little dogs, chihuahuas, golden’s- every kind of dog. And they were in heaven. Balls were being thrown, dogs were jumping in and out of the waves, chasing each other around people’s beach chairs- I imagine this is what heaven is like for dogs, except with more treats.
It was, without a doubt, one of the best Saturdays a dog could ask for.
Tips for humans:
This isn’t really a beach day for you, so don’t bother with the beach chairs or food and drinks. Think about this like a dog park, wear shoes and pick up after your dogs!
