After moving into our new place last month, I quickly decorated it for a house warming party that Bob insisted on. I love parties, but just felt a little rushed to get things looking “finished” before they were… well, finished. The good thing about having a house warming party so fast after moving in is that you force yourself to clean and put things away or better yet, just make decisions on how you want your space. Because most people come over and hang out in the living room and kitchen, I tried to finish those spaces first.

Our bedroom was left over and I made do with stuff we already had and reorganized some things but really, it needs some attention to be the comforting and serene space I envisioned. Since we stay in hotel rooms so often, we definitely have a list of things we want in the space, but thought it would be fun to start the decorating inspiration at a place that we love- travel.

Bob said he wanted a blue bedroom- something calm, grown up and peaceful.

I said I wanted something light, airy and peaceful.

My peaceful included pale peach/pink walls and a big white bedspread.

Bob’s peaceful included no pink, blue walls, blue bedspread and a bedside table for his nook.

Since that seemed like it was going no where fast, I came up with the idea of picking a few places that we love and deciding on a decor scheme based on that. We picked Australia, Greece, Mexico and Colorado. Then I found a few spaces that worked with those color combos and came up with these little images. I’m still loving the Greece/Pale Peach room. Of course Bob loves the Australia room and the Colorado room is even peaking my interest, a little.
