Next in the 30 for 30 challenge, I’ll be traveling north-east of Hollywood to the Pasadena area. Even though the challenge is about creating different outfits, this is still a travel blog!
First stop on our Pasadena tour was the Norton Simon Museum. The museum is home to over 1,000 pieces on display, with a huge selection of Southeast Asia art as well as some Picasso and Rembrandt. No reservations are required but they are closed on Tuesdays, so plan your visit accordingly! My favorite part was actually the garden area, with bronze replicas of Rodin’s The Thinker and The Walking Man.
Our second stop was right up the street from the museum on Colorado Blvd in an area called Old Town Pasadena. Charming restaurants and shops line both sides of the street and are perfect for a sunny afternoon stroll. Check their websites for a listing of all restaurants, coffee shops and stores to plan out a great visit. Also, if you are interested in a museum, ladies afternoon or beer and libations tour- look out for their pre-planned itineraries and maps for some great suggestions!
As for the outfit today, I knew I wanted to be comfortable but completely put together, too. A wrap dress is so easy to dress up or down, so I put on some fun flowery tights, scarf and blazer to dress up the look a little. Do you own a wrap dress? How do you style it?
For our last stop of the day, we wandered over to tour the Pasadena Playhouse. I love visiting different theatres and the history behind this one is particularly interesting. The Playhouse is “the State Theatre of California” and was established in 1917. Besides showcasing a wide variety of award winning shows, the theatre also promotes new works regularly. Currently they are performing a new musical called Dangerous Beauty and tickets cost between $29 and $100 dollars.
Have you ever been to Pasadena? What’s your favorite place in the city?
