Better late than never, right?
Do you make resolutions at the start of the new year? I love the idea but often find them limiting or worse a nag that I put upon myself. This year, I’m looking at resolutions a bit differently. I’m looking to make several year-long goals, split up by tangible milestones monthly throughout the year. I also decided to separate them by family, travel, career, and personal goals. Plus, I’m already posting this when most people have given up on their resolutions- so no pressure there!
Family:
The #1 goal this year will be to find our first house, with top priorities being quality of life, great schools, near a beach, and close by to an international airport. Our family thrives when our house is clean and organized, we have little adventures, whether spontaneous or planned, and we are all able to explore our own creative spirits. The house needs to have a yard, an office since we work from home, and the ability to make it our own, whether that means a fixer or a big yard to add-on, we are open to either.
Travel:
As we look to find our first home it’s starting to set in that that house might not be located in Los Angeles, or even California. With that in mind, I’d like to plan all of those California or West Coast trips I’ve been putting off. Sequoia and Yosemite National Parks- we are coming for ya. Alaska cruise, you betcha. Day trips to Laguna Beach and Encinitas, as well as Santa Barbara and additional trips to Carmel and Wine Country. I want to make the most of living here and not have regrets about the places that were so close and yet we never made it there. Additionally, I’d like to travel more to see family and friends, you know, real vacations! I love our work trips and don’t take them for granted for one second, but I’d also like more time with Augustine’s cousins and grandparents, more one on one friend time for myself, and more couple’s trips with Bob.
Career:
I want to continue to speak at conferences and build out the Travel Mindset brand even more. 2019 saw a lot of new opportunities in the Influencer Marketing space and I want to continue that into 2020. For Vagabond3, I’d love to rebuild the site to make it more functional for new users, finally finish my book, and create a branded line for family travelers. To help us, we’ve enlisted our good friends to redo the site and help with direction there. We had our first meeting last week, and stoked to see the direction they are going to take it. (our second meeting is tomorrow!) We need help.
Personal:
Bob and I want to cook more at home, both to save money and eat healthier. We dine out so much when we travel so we really need to take advantage of good clean eating at home. I’d like to learn some new recipes and feel more confident in the kitchen. I’ll continue to do Orange Theory several times a week (I signed up for the three month challenge), but I’d like to add in tennis lessons, dance classes or swimming. I love all of those things and would love to add fun outdoor activities to my schedule. As for saving money, we are going to try and save all Vagabond3 money for the house or new furniture once we move in.
None of these goals or resolutions are too hard to achieve, they all just take a bit of planning. I’m excited for this year- a lot of changes in the months ahead.
