Sometimes it can be hard to decide how you are going to get to the airport from where you plan on starting your holiday from, and most of the time many of us choose to drive.
This is very often the best option as it means that you can take your time getting to the airport. If you have a particularly long drive then you can break your journey to the airport by staying at one of the airport hotels that is close by to the terminal that you are flying out of.
If you use an online booking service to book your airport parking service then not only will you be able to compare prices and services of a lot of different car parks that are close by but you will also probably be able to get a good deal on an airport hotel thrown in as well. You could find that this is not only the most cost effective way of doing things (as you won’t have to buy coach tickets and train tickets for all of your family) but you will also not have to worry about flight delays affecting your return timetable on the train or coach. If you use your car you can travel to and from the airport at your own speed and if you find yourself a nice hotel en route you could even extend your holiday by a couple of days too (which can only be a good thing!)
If you do choose to travel in your own car then there are a few things that you need to do in order to make sure that your journey is as stress free as possible.
One of the biggest mistakes that people make when they park their car in an airport car park is that they do not remember where they have parked their car! Always make a note of the area in the car park where you have left your vehicle and put in it a safe place (like with your passport, so you will have access to it on your return journey). There is nothing worse than returning home after a long flight and having to spend a long time trying to find your car (this is guaranteed to get your temper frayed).
When you are planning the start and the end of your holiday try and be kind to yourself and try to plan it so that it is as hassle free as you can make it – you will be grateful of it on the return leg!
