This post is about
following your dreams,
believing in yourself,
and loving the life you are living.
Last night I had dinner with one of my favorite travel bloggers and friends, Spencer. Over what could be argued the best burger in Los Angeles and a mean basket of sweet potato fries, we discussed life, how we got to where we are now and what changes we hope the next few months and years bring. It was a great conversation- one that excites more questions and has you thinking about the answers long after the conversation is over.
One thing that I had been going through my mind was, where is my place in the world. Sometimes I find myself so passionate about so many things that it’s hard to concentrate on all the moving pieces.
And, I don’t want to make a mistake with my life or let anyone down.
Last week, while shooting the show for the Travel Channel (holy crap, that really happened!!), I felt like my passion for travel and for acting came together. I felt at home in front of the camera sharing how to save money, travel wiser and more adventurously. I felt alive.
And, today, when I was at the LA Times Travel Show, I was looking over one countries brochures and the tourist board official asked who I wrote for, seeing my Media badge. I told him about our blog and other freelance work and he threw his card at me, stating that he was the editor of a magazine and they were looking for writers for a weekly column.
I texted Bob (who was shooting a Japanese commercial) what had just happened. He wrote back,
I feel like the world is giving you a pretty clear sign of what you should be doing.
It was like I was being slapped over the head- Jade- wake up– this is where you belong. This is your purpose, this is your passion, and now you just need to believe in yourself 100% and do it.
Travel gives me a high unlike anything else. I feel like my best self when I’m out discovering the world, meeting new people, and sharing those experiences with others. I never want this feeling to go away and I am loving my life as each moment happens. (Thank you, karma, Mayan Gods, taco king. Thank you!)
And, a big thank you, reader, for stopping by Vagabond3. Thanks for cheering me on and sharing in our adventure. I hope that you too experience this type of joy and happiness.
Have you had an “Aha” moment? How has travel changed you?
