This week’s topic on Traveler’s Night In, a “tweet-up” for travelers, was Summer Vacation.  Ten questions were asked and tagged #TNI- Here are the questions:

Q. 1) Favorite Childhood Vacation Memory?

@katyharrison20 Smugglers Notch, Vermont. I was the first water slide I was ever on and I’ll never forget the rush I got.

@TravelMamas Swimming in Indoor Hotel pools w/ my fam.  It’s the simple things.

@LisaTBergren Snorkeling for hours along the black sand beaches of the Big Island, seeing sea turtles, exploring together!

@travelistatara It’s a tie between NYC during Xmas time and camping on the beach in Key West for the 4th of July!

@shinyredtype wandering around Coloniel Williamsburg, I was a nerdy child.

Q.3)  Biggest mishap on a summer vacation?

@nicoleWills2 My mom teaching me to fish and getting the hook caught in her leg! Had to take her to hospital to get it removed.

@LATravelMom Mosquito attack after leaving sliding door open in Puerto Vallarta

@graceface Finding out that I was really allergic to poison sumac, almost dying from it in my blood and 85% of body!

@ilivetotravel Violating  Sharm-el-Sheikh visa rescrictions and being pulled off bus in Cairo, told 2get in strangers car and that was the easy part!

Q.4) What is your ideal destination or resort for a beach getaway with kids?

@SmittyTab Love Kiawah Island, South Carolina, especially if you rent a place right on the beach, it’s great for families.

@LindsayTessis going with a Canadian destination- Prince Edward Island, Relaxed, safe, beautiful beaches and friendliest people.

@llgable Right here in Del Mar, Ca. great family beach getaway. but lots of Zonies (Arizona) might beat you to the sand in the summer.

@NG_LasVegas Have had a great time in San Diego with a rented cottage on the Harbor. (my son is chipping in on this one- he loved it)

Q5.) Must-do activities & excursions on summer vacation?

@redhunttravel Swim, eat ice cream, play mini-golf.

@middleseatview:  As a kid? Swimming, indoor pool as a plus. As an adult? Swimming, swim-up bar a plus!

@ggarvin – beaches and lots of seafood… sun and fun 

@kaytsukel I think you should find some adventure (like ziplining at Selvatica) but summer vacations should focus on relaxation.

@1step2theleft Snorkeling or Scuba Diving to see the stunning underwater world, Hiking to slowly enjoy the nature 

@ZipSetRachel  It isn’t summer vacay with out a boogie board.

Q6.) What’s the theme song for your dream summer vacay?

@travel_version Brian Adams’ Summer of ’69? Or Kid Rock’s All Summer Long? Honestly I don’t know.

Q7.) Leave the kids behind…dream resort for an adult-only getaway?

@ehalvey hopefully our Istanbul trip in September will fit the bill.

@CGTravels Not gonna lie, those #Seychelles photos in all the Will & Kate news articles are lookin’ pretty good

@RickGriffin A Motel 6 in Newark is a dream vacation if you get to leave the kids behind:

@gokokonut: Any of those resorts with overwater bungalows… ugh. Amazing.

@TravelPurpose Always wanted to honeymoon in Tahiti – if we ever tie the knot!

Q8.) Fill in the blank: Every family beach resort should have.

@BryanCSnider a lazy river, splash pad, water slide, mini-golf course, grills, and a great set up staff to help entertain kids

@raghavmodi A covered swimming pool for those sudden rainy days

@Action_JoJo Babysitting service for parents who want a break from the kids!

Q9.) Kids are playing in a kids club on vacay. What do you do?

@iprefer Pack light. You can do laundry practically anywhere

@MalloryOnTravel don’t buy t-shirts & shorts in resort!

@TravelsceneUSA SUNSCREEN!

@easytoursofasia Light layers. Always have a change of clothes in the car.

@allison_b216 Don’t forget your camera!

@alexberger Stupid cheesy but your smile and willingness to go with the flow. Shit happens. Live with it. Love it. Embrace it! Rock it!
