Top 4 Awesome Summer Trips in the USA

Where should we spend summer vacation?

Summer vacation is almost here and Bob and I are getting busy planning those precious four months. The best places to visit in the USA can not be limited to just 4, but here are our top picks for summer travel.

According to AAA, the average American family spends $1600 on a summer vacation. How much do you save for your summer trip? Where are you headed? What would you add to the list?

Colorado

The state known for its snow towns and ski bunnies is about to knock your socks off when it hits summer. The outdoor activities in Colorado are endless- white water rafting, mountain biking, hiking, river kayaking, Stand Up Paddleboarding and river surfing (just to name a few of our favorites).

This summer we are going to road trip from Los Angeles to Colorado where we will meet up with fellow travelers for the annual TBEX conference. We are planning on stopping at a few National Parks along the way and a few ghost towns. This road trip is in the very early planning stages, but so far it is rounding up to be an awesome summer trip.

Hawaii

Hawaii will always be on our list- it’s a true paradise and with so many different islands to choose from, you can have a different vacation every time you visit. Must Do: Visiting Volcano National Park, whale watching from Maui, watching the surfers at Waimea Bay and North Shore and trying the local Hawaiian cuisine!

This summer I want to visit Molokai for it’s beautiful coastlines and adventure opportunities. Who wouldn’t want to bike along the coast or participate in a traditional Mule Ride?!

Travel Tip: Each island of Hawaii has a completely different feel and offers travelers unique experiences.  So when traveling here, consider varying you accommodations, perhaps try staying in an upscale Honolulu Hotel on Oahu to treat yourself to an island getaway and then rough by hoping to the Big Island to camp out in one of Kona’s many National Parks.

St. Augustine, Florida

Not just your average historical tour, St. Augustine has gorgeous long beaches, delicious seafood, preserved state parks and an alligator farm! This beach town is the perfect mix of culture, sunshine and beach days to keep you entertained and relaxed for a long weekend vacation.

We are super pumped to be able to spend 4th of July in St. Augustine this year. Tip for seeing fireworks: bring your beach chair to the Fountain of Youth or show up early and pick a spot near the Fort.  The whole city comes out to celebrate and the downtown area is one big party.

Northern California, Yosemite National Park

Home to gorgeous natural wonders like Half Dome, Yosemite Falls, El Capitan, Yosemite National Park is the perfect summer vacation getaway. These places are what bucket-lists are made for and seeing the 620 foot waterfall of Bridalveil Falls or watching climbers defy gravity on the 3,593 foot granite monolith of El Capitan should be on every travelers list.

Bob and I really want to explore the West Coast and Northern California as much as we can. I can say we have fully discovered SoCal and Central California, but the North seems like untamed and unspoiled areas that we would love. We are hoping to combine a Yosemite trip with stops at a few wineries in NoCal. Any suggestions on places to see or wineries to stop at, please send us a shout out!
