This week’s topic on Traveler’s Night In, a “tweet-up” for travelers, was British Columbia. Ten questions were asked and tagged #TNI- Here are the questions:
Q1. If you could go anywhere in British Columbia, where would you go & why?
- @whereisjeannie I’ve only been to Vancouver and Whistler, BC. I would go to Granville Island for the best almond croissant and craft shops!
- @janamel I’ve been around my province lots, but I’m still itching to explore more of the northern BC – Alaska Highway, anyone?
- @AnjaniLadki Vancouver bc its got what i love: ocean & mountains! But since I’m already going there next week, I’ll say Whistler
- @lizsperandeo As a Vancouverite, I head to the #SunshineCoast anytime that I can. 2,400 annual hrs of sunshine, beaches, laid back locals.
- @Only398: A1 #Vancouver Island. I heard it’s just a great place to visti!
Q2. Best nightlife in BC? Favorite Canadian libation?
- @kymri Robson Street totally fun by nigh
- @AmericanSahara Canadian whisky by a campfire under the stars
- @doubleadventure Best night life? Listening to the wolves howl in a BC park.
- @lisajanPA Best nightlife? The Yale/Orpheum/Robson St/Gastown…but Whistler/Blackcomb has the best parties – don’t miss
- @whygocanada Without question, BC’s (and Canada’s) best drink is Victoria Gin
- @heliyes Try @thekeeferbar in Vancouver for drinks. Or Blue Mountain Winery in Okanagan Falls. Failing that, find a Ceasar somewhere!
- @letsgotravel Sorry to be typical, but Molson Canadian is a old-time classic (and they’ve got the most epic commercial too)
Q3: Sport you wishe you could’ve won gold in during the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver & Whistler?
- @ZipSetRachel Skiing, of course. I try hard, I love it, but let’s be honest, I am still on the greens & blues
- @gapadventures: When will Adventure travel become an Olympic Sport?
- @wheresandrew: Freestyle snowboarding (for the coolness factor) but hello? HOCKEY! USA
- @FrenchTwistDC Competitive poutine eating 😉
- @packdsuitcase Wanted to be a snowboard trickster…. but 1st time I tried I chipped my tailbone. Thx Shawn White 4 making it look so easy
Q4. British Columbia is home to more than 900 parks & protected areas – which is your favourite?
- @travelerkate From what I hear, Stanley Park is supsosed to be awesome. And is the Capilano Suspension Bridge included in the protected area?
- @BryanCSnider Glacier National Park looks amazing
- @whygocanada Haida Gwaii (just ask @italylogue) and Pacific Rim National Park in #Tofino!
- @lindsontheroad The massive waterfall at Wells Gray is pretty epic, and I love the Baden Powell trail in Lynn Canyon
- @PDSinBC Fav park is Porteau Cove 1/2 way between Vancouver & Whistler – beautiful new cabins to rent
- @donnadeau #TBEX11 attendees shouldn’t overlook Kits Beach Park, w/in walking distance downtown. Wonderful views from beach & huge pool.
Q5. Canadian celebrity you would most like to have a ski holiday with?
- @intoxabroad: Rachel McAdams….her or Shatner
- @lizsperandeo Kim Catrall would have some interesting things to say I bet!
- @kwetravel That’s easy.. Ryan Reynolds. Preferably in the Green Lantern costume.
- @ggarvin: A5. William Shatner would be fun to have a beer with, eh?
- @smittytabb: Kiefer Sutherland – enough said Yeah but you’d only get 24 hours with him 😉
Q6. Most extreme British Columbia activity or experience uv tried or want to??
- @sunshinecoastca Kayaking grade 4 Sechelt Rapids in Skookumchuck Narrows. Amazing to watch!
- @ElEhYouAreEh . Heli-skiing!! First I have to master skiing though :-/
- @reachdean backcountry ski touring
- @sasoffer Walking the suspension bridge up in Grouse Mountain, and taking the lift back down!
- @LuxeTiffany Most extreme British Columbia activity or experience uv tried or want to?? Grouse Grind. Trail gains 2800 vertical feet.
Q7. Best season to visit British Columbia? Why?
- @ehalvey I’m hoping summer since I’ll be there next week. Anything will beat this 96 degree foolery with a plague of cicadas
- @BlkChickOnTour Definitely summer. The weather is nice and the days are long
- @AnjaniLadki I would think Summer bc it can’t be that hot! & winter bc there’s nothing like extreme snow =o)
- @justinhamlin never a bad season to visit BC, different seasons allow for different experiences, and different drinks!
- @TravelsceneUSA Early summer: the weather is good & less crowds
Q8. Perfect romantic getaway in British Columbia?

- @janamel I got married on Galiano Island, honeymooned in Sooke and Tofino
- @CRMResorts Emerald Lake Lodge, B.C hands down. Wood burning fire places, no TV or cell reception..peace and serenity!
- @lisajanPA Okay back to Tofino. Log cabin. On the beach. Roaring fire. Waves crashing that are 20 feet tall. No one for miles
- @TourismBCmedia Poet’s Cove Resort on Pender Island is amazing. Luxurious and remote…a perfect romantic getaway!
Q9. What is British Columbia’s best kept secret? Picture?
- @donnadeau VanDusen Botanical Garden a few minutes from downtown. Sadly, have no photos.

- @Tours_By_Locals Something hardly anyone does in Van: head a bit East to Burnaby Mountain Park for fantastic views of Burrard Inlet and downtown.

Q10. #TBEX is coming to Vancouver, BC next week! If you had one day/night in Vancouver, how would you spend it?
- @AnjaniLadki can’t wait till #TBEX! If I had just 1 day/night. I’d want 2 go ocean kayaking, seafood eating & moonlight strolling on the beach.
- @allaboutmexico Rent a bike & bike around Stanley Park, have a picnic then go to a club at night. #tni
- @kitwhelan Stanley Park, Japadog for lunch, Granville Island shopping, and ice wine happy hour with travel friends!
- @heliyes Check into @FairmontPacific dinner @baobei drinks @thekeeferbar watch @VanCanucks win game 4, walk the seawall ,visit Olympic Plaza
